Default 2000 arctic cat 500

I have a 2000 arctic cat 500 manual trans it has a loud clicking noise from the left side of the engine it sounds like something in the starter drive is sticking any ideas thanks

I wonder if it is the starter gear? Does the starter turn over without strain?

turns over fine just makes noise when running it sounds like the drive stays engaged

Default Arctic Cat 500....

Maybe the starter is shot....You should remove the starter and see if the gears are all ground up...

Here is a really cheap starter if it is that.....
