Default 2005 - 500 - Rear Brake Siezed

Only a few weeks after I bought this bike, and 50 k later the rear break siezed on me during a fishing trip.

I was able to let it off by bleeding the line a bit.

After this the rear brake isnt working at all, no presure what so ever on the foot lever.

The front break oddly enough quit and had no pressure at the same time, but this went away and never happened again. I assume this is low brake fluid (I think there are different master cylinders for front and rear??). I dont think the front problem was related to the back break but I dont know. I hope I got away without destroying the pads and caliper, but dont know for sure.

I am thinking maybe the master cylinder is shot, but dont know. The new assembly for the MC would be 352 bucks.

Any ideas??

on my 04 650 there is a separate resevoir just at the back of the bike in frunt of the rear right tier that is the one for the rear brakes i would think yours is the same could be you bled all the fluid out of it or have a air lock
