2007 700...new HD battery...screen flashes "volt"

Hi...I just put a new HD battery in my 700 a couple of months ago. It starts fine ...no problems there but recently, as soon as I put it in gear..." Volt" flashes on the screen. Does that mean theres a problem with the regulator?...If so, where is it located and how do I check it ?....any info greatly appreciated as we are approaching winter and I use it for plowing...thx chris
