02 prairie project, need input
i have a 2002 prairie 400 4x4...completely stock except for an ITP 589 wheel and tire kit. I swamped it in a mud hole a few years back and when it got stuck the engine stalled so my buddy had to winch my quad out and we pulled it home because it wouldn't start up again. I don't know much about fixing these things, but I eventually got it running again by removing the belt cover, air box, and changing oil. When I took the belt cover off it drained out water, and after some new oil and spark pllug it ran ok. I havent run it in a few years, because it started making a grinding/screeching noise from the rear end. I thought it was bearings and i sent it to a local for bearings and brakes. When he got it he didnt know what he was doing and caused further damage and took my money for his drug habit. I took it to a new guy and he told me that differential is shot so i ordered a used one on ebay and now he is doing some work on it. Im afraid that tthere was more damage done when i swamped it that i just dont know about so what should i do to make sure everything is ok before i start putting power accessories on it. My plan is to get a new exhaust, clutch spring, air filter and jet kit to get some more power on those 589s. What modifications would you recommend? Any input is greatly appreciated..
