new to the sport please help

i am looking to by my first quad and know nothing about them i am looking at a 03 can am ds 650 and was wondering if the folks on this forum has any info for thanks for the help

I own a Can Am after 3 polaris, 2 yamaha's and a Honda foreman.
I like the Can Am best so far. They are the sport quad of utility quads if that makes sense? Fast handle well.

depends on what type of riding you are planning on. the ds is a sport bike, super fast and really fun but with no 4 wheel drive. so if the riding in your area is very muddy or swamppy you'll find yourself stuck a lot which will take the fun outta riding quickly. if being stuck is not indicitive of your riding area then the ds would be a great choice.

Generally I really dislike the ds 650, it feels very big and bulky for a sport machine and isn't as nimble as a lot of the smaller 400's and 450's or even as nimble as a raptor. Personally I don't feel its good for the track and if your just looking to trail ride a utility quad is generally much more comfortable.

Haven't heard many bad things about the DS, but like others have said, it is a sport quad so if that's what you're looking for then go with it. I'm with Toxic though, if you are going to be doing mostly trail riding, I think you'd be better on a utility quad. If you don't need/want 4wd than it might be a great option for you.
