Default 1990 TRX300FW RearEnd

Hey all

I recently bought a used rearend and was going to put it on my atv and I noticed that the vent tube was broken off. I was wonder if I could just pulg the broken fitting of do I need it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

its a vent. The differential has to be vented to allow for pressure changes as the temperature changes and the oil starts getting slung around. Its a good habit to get into to check the vent tube from time to time and make sure it isn't clogged. If it get stopped up, and the pressure can't bleed off you're liable to blow out the pinion seal.
