Kick starter on '85 250

I've managed to assemble the kickstarter itself and the indexes all line up, but I'm having difficulty getting it into the crankcase. I'm not sure where the kickstarter SPRING is supposed to hook onto the crank case, or maybe there is a trick to getting it to snap into place.

Does anyone have an assembly tip for me?
