Default just bought a 86 fourtrax!!!

i bought a 86/7 fourtrax 4wd 350cc.
the plastic is cracked in places, and the seat needs a new cover, and the front brakes dont work for some reason. other than those things, it is in good shape. it ran great today! it got through deeper mud than i thought.
i paid $900 for it. seems like a decent deal. i havent seen a running 4x4 wheeler for less.

Default Me too..

I just got an '86 too. [See my post above about the starter reduction gears].

I paid $1000 for mine, and it seems to run great, except for the starter. It has some clunking noise that comes from the front end when in reverse, and I have heard that is sort of normal for this model. Is that true? I doesn't seem to cause any problems and doesn't clunk or grind when riding, just when the wheels are turned going in reverse.

Here's some pics.Here's some pics.

Wink

i also have an 86 350 and the front does not clunk so i would say that it is not normal.

the front brakes are easy to adjust, let me know if you need info on how to do it, and the plastic, sounds like sheet metal and rivets, to me my friend. I ha "frankensteined" many of my friend's atvs and it works GREAT!
