Default new to the world!!!!

hello everyone. i joined this forum because my knowledge of atvs is very limited ( dont know squat ) and sometime in the near future i would like to purchase one for riding. so basiclly what are people buying these days and why????? what should i stay away from??? thank you all that can help me on my way.

I got mine off of craigslist. Theres alot of good ones out there that people are wanting to get rid of. for a first bike, its a great idea, if you tear it up, you're not out too much.. and anything from the 80's is very easy to work on.. i suggest honda.. very simple, yet very reliable.. are you looking for racing or utility?
