belt light came on so is it important to take it back to the dealer for a service or is it just a farce

I have the same problem. Belt light comes on, dealer looks at it, week later the light is back on again. I've been to the dealer 3 times to fix this problem and the light is still on. I ordered a factory manual and I'll try to solve the problem myself.

I've given up on the dealer and thier warranty.
