Hello everyone. Just joined this forum. Last week I bought a 2001 220 Bayou. I notice 2 issues:
1.) its hard to get into 2nd gear. I really have to rev up 1st gear and sometimes that doesn't help. I have to kick it in very hard.
IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN CHECK OR ADJUST TO IMPROVE THIS ? ?
2.) sometimes it stalls out on 1st gear even after it is warm. It even stalls out in neutral once in a while.

I have a Clymer repair manual on order and I have tools and enough (basic) mechanical knowledge to be dangerous. This 220 and an Ozark 250 (2005) I bought last month are my first ATVs.
On the right hand side, there is a little black cover with 2 philip head screws, take it off. Youll see a nut with a flathead screw in the middle. You have to back the nut off slightly and turn the center screw right to tighten the clutch and left to loosen up on it. This should clear up your shifting problem.
