Default 2002 Sportsman 700 Twin Speed Sensor

I have 3 wires on my speed sensor, Black, White & Red. I know that one has to be a common, one is a voltage source, and the other is a signal (Pulse train) back to the speedometer.
So which wire is which? and what voltage is being generated to the speed sensor?

Default 700 Sporstman Speed Sensor Issuu

Thanks for the tips, and after some troubleshooting the signal wire (white) was broken inside the weathertight coating. I couldn't get any readings on my meter so i started feeling along the length of the sensor wire and found the break about 7" back from the sensor.
Once i get some heat shrink today i can get it fixed and get back to riding.
