Default KingQuad Uni joint repair!

Hey DJC & dudes. I took the rear right hand shaft/universal to a bearing place and they measured the uni joint up. One place gave us a price of $118.00 and another $38.00 so we bought that. I took it to a mates place as he has a press and pressed the original one out and pressed the new one in and tack welded washes on the ends of the bearing caps to hold it in. So it ended up costing $38.00 in stead of over $400.00 to replace! I could take some pictures and put them on this post, could be useful for someone else with a similar problem!

Unhappy Consult A Mechanic

I'm Katrine and I think you should consult a car mechanic on that. Because the problem is too technical .

auto mechanics are not fabricators. they wouldn't know what to do without an OBD reader.
as far as what you did, your not going fast, so balance doesn't matter much. outside of that a u-joint is a u-joint. if it fits it will work. maybe won't last as long as factory but who cares? build another.
when I replaced mine I couldn't just replace the U, the yoke was destroyed.

way to be inventive and adventurous. you never know what you can do or what can be done until you try it. besides it's a 20 year old bike. great thing to experiment on.
