Air Filters-Cotton Gauze vs Foam Oil

I am new to Quads. I run in the desert mostly and am wondering what is the most protective air filter. Cotton Gauze like KN or Oiled Foam? Opinions please.

You're air filter is not designed to block a tidal wave of fine sand. You'll need to add some extra protection to keep your engine free from all the grit. I suggest using a K&N pre-filter if you're using a K&N air filter or an airbox cover.

The pre-filter prolongs the life of your air filter and makes it easier to maintain.

The airbox cover is exactly what it says - a cover that covers your airbox providing additional protection from the sand while maintaining optimal airflow.

I ran a K&N and found deposits in my boot. . . So I bought a UNI filter and put a nylon over it and haven't found any sand in there yet and it didn't Take any power.

If you hear the Ping and Smell the Smoke! You have just been Passed by a 2 Stroke !
