Now, more than likely, you would win because as others have stated "Buyer beware". If you sold an ATV with a known major issue then that is kind of a scumbag thing to do. If you sold it with a known issue and told the buyer about the issue, then that is definitely on them. If you sold it with no known issues and it suddenly developed one...that is also on them.|

How did you sell it? Craigslist? Also, do you have Bill of sale? Did you say/write anywhere that you warranty anything on it? If not, he can suck it. He saw what he was getting.
How do you know he didn't abuse it and end the engine? He could have had a mechanic go with him to look at the quad if he doesn't know squat about them. People like those, I just chuckle and block their number. They won't get anywhere with it. He's just trying to scare you into listening to him. Last guy who did that to me got booked a check in appointment from police for threatening lol.
