So I just bought a 2003 Dakota sport. I’ve put about $800 into the squad. Twice what I paid for it. Lately when I start it and warm it up I smell fuel I have rebuilt the carburetor. And it runs fine for a while but as I’m cruising down the road it will spit and sputter and sometimes completely die I have to pull over and restart it. Other times it will if I feather the throttle it will kind of come back to life. I’m wondering if because I don’t have an in-line fuel filter the quad set for seven years if I’m pulling gunk back into the carburetor or if there’s any advice on how to adjust these and what the stock carburetor setting should be. And how to adjust it. On a sidenote I would like to gear it down so I can get a little more top and speed out of it anybody have a device where I can get those kind of parts. As she is street legal so I wouldn’t mind cruising at 60 or 65 down the highway. Lol
