hi everyone, i am new to this forum. i have a 1990 yamaha big bear 350 4X4. when it's running there is a noise coming from the bottom of the motor, almost like a knocking noise of some sort. the bike has always had regular oil changes. when i drained the oil during the last oil change, there were no shaving or metal in the bottom of the drain plug or anything. when i rev up the engine the noise gets quieter and when it comes back to idle it gets loud again. could it be rod or main bearing on the crank? any help would be great. thanks all. also what type and grade of oil should i use in the engine? thanks

Is the noise comming from the around where the oil dipstick is? Also, when you shut it off is there a spinning sound followed by a clunk?
