2003 Honda Rancher Es

I have a 2003 Honda Rancher ES (Electronic shift) with less than 400 miles on it. I've had it almost a year and have experienced no problems with it until now. This morning while planting food plots, it got stuck in 3rd gear and would not let me shift up or down. The shift indicator on the digital disply was continually flashing the number 3. I finally turned the key off and turned it back on. Everything worked fine then and continued to work fine. Is this something I should be concerned about?

I own a Honda rancher too. I had the bike do the same 2-3 times I turn the switch off and turn it back on and everything fine. I would not worry about it.
shift sensor

Eventually it will leave you stranded major pain in the *** but if you wanna wait till your machine is totally unreliable and it WILL happen i have a 2003 fourtrax 350es and i have replaced this sensor 3 times but i also have 13000kms and 700hrs on my machine.Dont be afraid to replace it on your own it is VERY EASY to replace it is located on the front of the engine down low behind a small steel box anyway good luck and it is gonna happen it is the only fault of the Honda electric shift system but besides that in my mind They are BULLETPROOF i hace driven mine like it was STOLEN since it was brand new and still runs like a top....knock on wood:)
