i have a 05 400ex nice shape unabused ,it has been dealer maintained, i have only had it for 2 months ,couple of days ago gave it its first real ride since ive had it, about a 50 mile trail ride ,i check everything out before and after i ride it ,well after that ride i grabed the back wheels and felt a bit of slop ,just a hare bit. so i was feeling around the axle and noticed that the axle tightening nut assembly could be moved back and forth by hand, i put a small pair of channel locks on the outer nut and was able to turn it , then i got some big wrenchs tightened it up just a little ,it took that little bit of slop away.My question is are the bearings going out or was it the axle tightening nut? I dont want to tear it apart unless i have to, i never messed with that axle nut assembly prior to noticing that slop so i dont know if it was like that before ,i know that the rear slop was not like that before the ride, any info would be great!
