Hello, I have a 1989 Yamaha Big Bear 350. I'm having an issue with the reverse shifter. It shifts into reverse just fine, the problem is getting out of reverse into hi or low, it requires a little violence. What could be cause this? Thanks!

There's a thing called an interlock which causes a lot of problems.. It's mentioned early on in the service manuals where they are discussing features of the bike, just before or after the specs mostly..

It could be the pin that prevents the shift to reverse unless the foot brake is depressed, it has a bevel that should sit at 90deg to the indent points... if it is sideways it is VERY hard to shift. Maybe pull the shifter apart and lube with some good quality grease, just try and ensure the bevel is aligned when putting it all back together. Kev...
