I have a polaris 800 twin sportsman efi and its been having battery issues. i then switched the batterys out, and it lasted maybe a month and it had a problem, the battery isnt holding charge and dies after you ride it for 5 minutes. i changed the stator, and still have the same problem, the battery is swollen because we have charged it alot of times and this battery is only a month old. Could it be the voltage regulator? what should i do? i just want the damn thing to run.

Check the charging voltage at the battery. Should be somewhere around 13.3-14.5 V DC. If its low or way high,
Check your stator output at the 3 charge wires from the stator to the rectifier. Unplug them
and first check continuity of each leg to ground. If any leg is grounded, your stator is shorted.
Set meter to V AC. Start the engine. Check any 2 legs of the stator to each other. You should see
a voltage of something like 50-70 VAC. Anything low means stator is bad. Sometimes a bad rectifier can
fry the stator. Chances are your rectifier is bad. Its fairly common.
