Saw a video that said when checking oil to not screw the cap on? Just let the cap 'rest' on top of the threads? Any thoughts on this? I have always screwed the cap down on other vehicles.
Just changed the oil on my KQ 500 and with the cap 'resting' on top of the threads the oil level is 1/2 way up the hashes. Feel like I should add a little more oil?

If you put in the recommended quantity for the situation(run motor, drain and refill with filter), then it should be right.
You could top it up a little more and try it. Watch for smoke when you use it if you do. Be aware that some motors, if you over fill them, or even fill them right to their full mark, use a little oil, but once the level gets to a certain level they stop using it. If you try to keep those motors right to the full line you will be thinking it's using a lot of oil.

Yeah I did some searching and seems most say to just rest the cap on top of the threads. I put 2 full quarts and 600ml of the 3rd bottle, which should have been the 2500ml it calls for but it was barely on the stick. Ended up putting about 750ml of the 3rd bottle so about 2650ml but it's at the top of the hashes on the dipstick when resting on the threads. Should be fine. I know it isn't that critical but I'm a little OCD...lol
