First thing to do is a standard service and tune.. It could be as simple as an old spark-plug, or the carb might need stripping and cleaning, or even some new parts.. Best to do the tune first though.
Check the plug, valves, idle mixture, air cleaner, and inspect all the vacuum and breather hoses on the carb and fuel tank. Then see if it still has the problem.
