There are a lot of different suffix to the YMF400.. If you look up on a parts site it will list the different suffix variations and have a different page of parts for each.. If you want to know what the differences are, open several different models and browse around looking at the differences. Mostly the differences are fairly minor, things like body colour or headlight shape, whether they have daytime running lights and cooling fans, what exact carb build they use.. stuff like that.
Different models might have a different cdi, or stator, or carb, but most of the service manauls cover all types. If there are differences, they mention them at the back of the service manual in the suppliment section.. Which is another way of comparing them..

Well if you are after second hand parts, look up the part you want on partzilla, for your year and model, choose the part as though you are going to buy it, and it will take you to a page where they tell you all the other models that part fits. Some parts fit heaps of models, for decades.

Yes. Mine was vandalized and multiple parts were removed. I have the YFM4FAV 06. Most aftermarket in my price range end up YFM400. Just curious. Hate to total it out.
Megazip have no parts listing for the model YFM4FAV but the model name is YFM400FA KODIAK. Megazip shows only 1 model with that code but have no data on it, the other 3 model code starts with 1P16 so suspect that if you check out any of the models you will find parts compatible... if you copy the part number into the search engine it will as Mech says" Some parts fit heaps of models"
Megazip or a site like it can be so much help when finding parts... even use as ref when working on the bike.

The other model bikes your parts fit, and who's parts will fit your bike, often use another part number for the same part. It's better to use the parts place's knowledge to find out what interchanges.

If you do as I've said and look at the list of other bikes the part fits, you will notice they have their own part number mentioned there. Sometimes that part number is a superseded part, and if you look up your old part number in google it's often no longer available, but the superseded part is.

Partzilla (or another parts place) works better than google..
