Klf 300b bogging issue

I have a kawasaki klf 300b 1987 and when i got it originally from a friend it was sitting for like 10 years and of course it didn't run so i went through the steps of fixing it. Had good compression and clean carb but i wasnt getting any spark. I went through the steps of fixing that and turns out the cdi box was bad, so i replaced that and got spark so i started her up and she was a little scared at first but slowly broke in and idled perfectly fine. But everytime i gave it any gas it would just bog out completely so i had it idling and sprayed starter fluid into the intake to see if it would rev up, but it did the opposite and died out. I think it might be something to do with the spark since after that i took it out and it was wet. Im guessing its not sparking at higher rpms but i have no idea how to fix that since ive never had that issue before, keep in mind ive cleaned the carb maybe 5 different times with a supersonic cleaner and put needles through all the wholes. Someone please help me out with this old *** atv

Well.. I just heard, and I don't know if this is true, but someone reckoned that older kawasakis had a rev limiter if the park brake was on.. Might pay to check the switch is there and that the brake light working.. I think it will be on the hand lever..
I've looked in a manual and there's nothing in the wiring diagram that would indicate a rev limiter in your year..
You should check the charging system is working, charging and regulating.. Some regulators can cause the symptom you have.
If turning the headlights on lets it rev higher it's a sign the reg is bad..
so your saying that maybe its on of the brake switches that might cause that?

ive seen that if u unplug it then it stops it from messing things up and then i tried that still no work
What's the "it" that you unplugged ?
The "it" sounds like what needs fixing..

Oh my bad for not specifying that. The rectifier is what “it” is. I seen a video about the same problem im having and that guys problem was that and so was the comments aswell, i was thinking that theres something happening when the flywheel starts to spin faster, maybe the pickup coil is bad at high rpms, i also want to add that im running it without the airfilter because it was rotted away with time and some articles ive read say that that can cause the issue but from my experience it never has
Oh ok, so you need to check all of the charging system, fuses, wiring for shorts or breaks or bad connections, main switch if the charging goes through it, the battery condition, the stator resistance and/or output, and the regulator.
First test will be to check if it is charging, by putting a volt meter across the battery terminals and seeing what the voltage is, it should be close to 12.6 volts, then start the engine and the voltage should slowly rise to between 13.6 and 14.7 approx, and it shouldn't go over about 14.7..
And you should also fix the air filter.. On some engines they do make a huge difference.. some motors will hardly accelerate without the filter.. and dirt gets in..

Just to put this out there aswell, i dont have a battery connected, currently going through slow repair charging. I have a jumper connected to the positive and negative terminals and when i start it i take it off. And for some more information when i put it into gear off of choke it just sits there and idles, any gas kills it. But if i put it on choke it will start to cruise at like 5 mph but if i give it any gas, it dies
Ha.. You need a battery in there Yoshi.. that is likely all the problem is.. Bad boy !!
And get an air filter. If it's an oiled filter then drench it in oil then wrap it in a rag and squeeze it as hard as you can.. The rag will soak up the excess oil and leave the right amount on there.. The amount of oil on the filter can be quite critical too.

Really? I mean i had it in there during the first part of testing but i wouldve never guessed that the battery can cause an issue like that. 😂

I wanted to fix the bogging issue before purchasing a air filter but that is definitely high priority for me

So the story so far is, it was my friends grandads and gave it to his son “friends dad” and while using it to pull over trees “with the “fuse bypassed” fried the cdi box somehow. Which i replaced, so maybe something is wrong with the stator/pickup coil🤔
I couldn't check out that link thing.. Nothing happened.

There's probably nothing wrong with your stator or pickup/trigger coil.. You can download a service manual and check those parts if you want to, and should before spending money on them, but the battery being out will definitely cause problems like you have..
You should check all the wiring, there will be a reason they had the fuse out or whatever.. The regulator needs a good earth, and good wiring and connections to the battery. You may have a bad connection on the earth somewhere. They usually have a big wire from the battery negative to the starter or engine, and several smaller wires going to the frame. The big starter wires can get bad connections between the wire and the terminals on their ends. The smaller wires can break right near the terminal where they flex, or get bad connections between the wire and terminal. The small wires you can feel if they have a break if you gently flex them near the terminal. Check all the wiring carefully. Check the fuse and the fuse holder for bad connections. If the charging goes through the key switch then you should check that doesn't have dirty contacts.

A service manual will explain how and where to check all these things.

Hehehe lol the regulators hanging off a ziptie💀
When i get home tomorrow ill go through all the steps you told me to do and let you know, praying it works.
