I've never worked with the fuel pump on one of these. Are they prone to damaging the diaphragm when you take one apart? I'm thinking I'd like to clean it out as I think old fuel has been sitting in there for years.

Probably.. haha.

Use an oilstone to bevel all around the tip and a bit of the side of a twenty thou feeler gauge and use that to slowly work around the edges to seperate it if it's stuck and it will probably come apart ok.. Use it like a chisel on obstinate bits.. the curved front gets under/through nice and gently.
Oh, and a tapering feeler gauge is way better than one of those parallel sided and round tipped ones..

If the diaphgram is so old and frail that it breaks from you flexing it then that's another story... but then perhaps it needed doing anyway..

Well I may have discovered why this bike was put out to pasture. Finally got the starter to spin and thats all it does. Is that indicative of the sprag clutch being shot

Yup.. That or a stripped gear.. which is unlikely.

Well I tried again. You can hear the wind in the background, it's really blowing today. Took the one out of the Quadrunner and it's fine.
