Allright everyone I am as green as it gets when it comes to ATV anything. I always wanted a ATV growing up and I final bought a 03' Arctic Cat 500 4x4. My question is I am putting new tires on it. and I want to know what the biggest tires I can put on it. I am thinking about putting some spacers on it to, but that kinda depends on the tires I put on it. It is usted for utility mainly. Hauling the decoys out while we are hunting, Ice fishing, Snow plowing, ect.. But there is some playing around in the mud!!!!!! I would like to get as high as possible due to the plowed feilds and deep snow, but I was told I might have a HP problem is I get to big. I have original 25"s on there now.. So thats what I got let me know what you think..

Welcome, I too just got a ATV for the first time less than 10 days ago and I got a Yamaha Big Bear 350 4x4. Been riding motorcycles for over 40 years and Wife said she would like a ATV. Of course I didn't argue as I've been eyeing them for last 6 months. Mine also has 25 tires and they seem to be about the tallest for a stock ATV that I've found so far(been looking to see what tires cost new). I suppose you could go with a car tire that you could mount to a ATV 8"(front) and 12"(rear) rim, BUT, you may have problems with the tires sidewalls sealing on the rims. You might speak with some local tire dealers/sellers who carry ATV tires and ask them whatever question you may have about mounting and taller heights. I wouldn't worry too much about losing all that power as these ATV's have plenty to spare on the low end. You'll just need to remember that it'll be like changing a gear's ratio, and the need to watch rubbing issues with taller tires.
