I have 2000 Yamaha Wolverine 350, when cold it will start and run fine but after about 6min when it gets hot it just shuts down like you turned the key off yet there is still power to everything and will not start again for about an hour of cooling off time. it is getting gas, has spark through the coil and even with starter fluid it will not even attempt to kick over. I replaced the spark plug and coil but still the same. Any thoughts on what it could be?

Thanks Rich

Hello Rich,

Not sure if they are too similar, but I have a 1999 Beartracker that had similar symptoms.

The Fix for my bike (Unfortunately) was to replace the stator and pick-up. It had spark (It started), but as it warmed up it just died (Wait to cool down, and it re-started).

Good luck. Beartracker has run great since replacing the stator with an eBay (Chinese) knock-off stator and pickup. I didn't test the stator, I was told to replace it by someone on a forum with similar problem.

Best Regards,
Junguda

Thank you for the advice Junguda, I have taking the Plug out to check the timing and where the Stator is located and had oil Pumping out of the plug and don't believe oil should be in there with the electronics, have been having a tough winter physically so have not been able to take it apart yet but hopefully soon.

Thanks again
Rich
