My new to me ATV has a KFI winch with steel cable. The cable has a knot in it so will only pull out about 15-20' and I know I won't ever get that kink straight. It has a roller style fairlead currently. I read that you can't use those with the synthetic rope? I was gonna order the rope and fairled but wondered if the bolt pattern on the fairlead is pretty universal?

An ATV fairlead is usually narrower in bolt pattern. check out fiery red, they sell a Solid changeover kit that has synth rope, hawse fairlead hook and a rubber stopper.
I recently converted mine over to synth after working with the ATVs at work that we installed synth on.
the best perk I can say with synth is You CAN REPAIR it easily road side.
Lot easier to work with, lot easier on parts, your hands and gloves.
I've since used the winch to skid logs up to where I can throw a choker on them (not huge ones mind, 8 - 14 inch dia cut into manageable 8-16 foot lengths) so I can drag them where I need them.
